" Old wine & friends improve with age "

" Good friends. Good wine. Good food. Good times "

" There's always time for a glass of wine "

" My Cuti Cuti Malaysia overnight trip from Subang Jaya to Bukit Tinggi & Bentong, Pahang with my Klang buddies - enjoying the cool mountain air and an interesting visit to a newly opened Gallery Antiques & Cafe in Bukit Tinggi "

Thanks god is Monday ! My Klang buddies run a pressure point therapy healthcare center in Klang and every Monday is their off days ! As done in the past 2-3 years, our group would pick one of the Monday in the months and spared a bit of our time to go for a short vacation for a day or two, impromptu, short notice and join at our own free will to a nearby town in Peninsula Malaysia to unwind & relax ourselves and also to enjoy the local village / home made style food !

For this short visit, our group had a wonderful time spending a night in Bukit Tinggi to enjoy the cool mountain air and a leisurely morning drive to the Bentong town, both places are located in the state of Pahang. Also an interesting visit to a newly opened Gallery Antiques & Café in Bukit Tinggi with a catchy Chinese name called Yen Fang Ter Jia simply means "a home from far". The antiques on exhibits at the gallery were of yesteryears - maybe my grandpa & grandma's time ! What a grand display for any walk in visitors & tourists (domestic & foreign) to view & appreciate & at the same time enjoy a cup of hot coffee at the gallery ! I believe this place will very soon become one of the main tourist attractions in Bukit Tinggi ! Good on you, Mr Woon for your passion and love in antiques collections !

Cool weather, good company & good food for this Pahang trip ! A very productive & relaxing one ! But more goodies hopefully for all of us as the Chinese New Year which falls on 16-17 of February is getting near ! Wishing you all good health and a good break in this coming festive season ! Another Cuti Cuti vacation awaits us !

After the Chinese New Year, our group is heading to Cambodia (Siem Reap & Phnom Penh) for a week and is looking forward to visit the Angor Wat, the Mother of all Temples, an UNESCO site !

1) The start of our car ride from Klang to Subang Jaya (pick up KM Cheng) departing 19.30 to Bukit Tinggi for an overnight stay at one of our Klang buddies' rented apartment in Bukit Tinggi town. Thanks to Chim for offering to use his vehicle to take our group to Bukit Tinggi & Bentong, Pahang ! Thanks to Hui for offering a place for us to snore in his rented apartment ! Thanks to Wong for acting as our navigator in most of our trips in Pahang & Selangor !

2) A late dinner (20.30) at Hong Heng Seafood Restaurant, Bukit Tinggi Village, Pahang ! yummy yummy meal to our delight ! 5 course dinner comprising of a hot pot bean curd, steamed fish ginger style, steamed white chicken, stir fried vegetable & spicy seafood combo (la la, squib & prawns) Teow Chew style !

3) an unusual sight - a row of bird's nest underneath the ceiling on the ground floor / car park of the rented apartment in Bukit Tinggi ! I wonder what is the quality of this bird's nest after the cleansing !

Bentong, Pahang

4) Our group woke up early and at around 06.30, took a slow drive to Bentong town for breakfast - a bowl of wan ton noddle + black coffee at Hoqi Wanton Mee stall in Bentong. A simple breakfast & coffee but more importantly a great opportunity for our members to foster a stronger friendship in our golden years !

5) Bentong downtown near the wet market area during the Monday morning. The wet market closed for business on every Monday but a few stalls were in business outside of the wet market complex !

6) Bentong Hospital

7) Bentong Walk / Cultural Street - my first visit and thanks to Wong who led me to this tourist place in Bentong ! Chinese clan associations lined the street here and many of the buildings dated back to the pre-war days !

8) Art murals & street art in Bentong town

9) Two of my Klang buddies ie Chim & Hui had a hair cut at an old barber shop in downtown Bentong ! Rm10 per hair cut - groovy Bentong style ! Hope this hair cut will bring lady luck and a lottery win for all of us !

From KL to Bentong with love for a Bentong style haircut - groovy & neat !
Muthu, Chim, Hui & Wong from Klang, Selangor . Smiles everlasting smiles !
10) Bought one packet (Rm12) of Bentong fresh ginger for home on sale at this barber shop (side line business)

11) Bought 2 packets (Rm12) of tau fu puff (bean curd) for home at a Bentong Tau Fu stall

12) Bought 3 home made rice dumplings for home - Zongzi (RM4.80 each) at a food stall in downtown Bentong

Bukit Tinggi, Pahang

13) Coffee break & light refreshment at a newly open Gallery Antiques & Café, Yen Fang Terk Jia in Taman Seri Bukit Tinggi, Pahang; the founder of this business, Mr Woon is known to one of our Klang buddies; an excellent exhibit of Malaysian antiques & old items used by commoners & small traders a century ago; seeing these antiques on display bringing me back to the good old days and the joy of my childhood during the 50's ! Old is gold !

14) the scenic Bukit Tinggi & the country homes & resorts, located near Genting Highlands - a great place for a short vacation for urbanites, away from the hustle & bustle of big city life !
